The Australian Government has recently changed the requirements to become an Australian citizen. These changes are:
To apply for citizenship you need to have been a permanent resident for a minimum of four years immediately prior to your application.
You must pass an English language test where you will need to demonstrate competent English language listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
Through the Australian Values Statement, you must reference allegiance to Australia and make an undertaking to integrate into the Australian community
Changes to the test for Australian citizenship with the addition of new test questions about Australian values, and the privileges and responsibilities of Australian citizenship.
Be able to demonstrate your integration into the Australian community.
